About Ken
Ken Martin is a lifelong Democrat with a proven track record of success. As Chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party, President of the Association of State Democratic Committees, and Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Ken has dedicated his career to fighting for working families and building a stronger Democratic Party.
His political career began in 1990, interning for Minnesota U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone’s campaign. This experience ignited a lifelong commitment to the Democratic Party and its values. He later interned in Wellstone’s office and organized college campuses for the Clinton/Gore Campaign. After graduating, he honed his skills in Kansas politics before returning to Minnesota to serve as the Political & Field Director for the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party.
Ken’s career path reflects his commitment to serving the people of Minnesota. He worked as a Policy Aide for Ramsey County Commissioner Susan Haigh and as Executive Assistant to Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch. In 2008, he spearheaded the successful campaign for the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, a landmark achievement in environmental conservation. His dedication to public service is evident in his consistent efforts to champion policies that benefit working families and protect the environment.
Ken believes that the Democratic Party needs a leader who can connect with working-class voters and restore faith in the party. He argues that the party needs to communicate its message more effectively and resonate with voters on a personal level. He believes that his experience as a successful state party chair, his impressive fundraising abilities, and his strong relationships with state parties across the country make him the ideal candidate to lead the DNC into the future.
